Description

SYNOPSIS

This course aims to provide understanding to students about research as applied in a business context. Students will be equipped with the knowledge and skills required in a basic research process. Students will also be introduced to the core concepts, methods and research issues which lay the foundations for conducting a research. Data analysis, interpretation and presenting analysis output will also be discussed. 

 OBJECTIVES

 Upon completion of the course, students are expected to

  •  Describe how research is being conducted.
  • Understand the issues, process and methodologies used in conducting a research.
  • Acquire knowledge and skills for the purpose of data coding, editing, analysing, data interpretation and report writing.

 

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to

  • Discuss various processes, concepts, approaches and methods which are available for conducting research. (A2, C2)
  • Apply SPSS software to conduct appropriate statistical test for data analysis, interpretation, and reporting analysis output. (C3)
  • Develop the required skills in conducting quantitative research. (C6)

Dr Khairol Anuar Bin Ishak

Dr. Khairol Anuar Ishak is currently as Program Manager at Professional & Continuing Education Centre (PACE), UUM. He have joined UUM since 2004 and has appointed as Coordinator for Student Co-curriculum for PACE from 2006 until 2008. He was appointed as the Deputy Dean, School of Business Management (SBM) for the year of 2018 and Head of Department for the year of 2017. In cultivating student activities, he has appointed as Club Advisor of Management Executive Club (MEC) to set-up new committees members in this club. He earned her PhD from the USM in franchising management field and has been lecturing in various areas in management such as Management, Organizational Behavior, Research Method, Management Ethics and Management Information System.

He also has over 8 years working experiences in warehouse management, inventory management control, sales and marketing with MODENAS and EMOS. He has a high passion and actively involved in academic research and writing activities as well as consultation projects. As an active researcher, he has lead several research projects funded by FRGS and internal grants. The results from various researches were presented at international conferences and published in indexed journals. His areas of research interest include performance measurement, franchising management, relationship marketing, relationship quality, e-learning, Management information system and strategic management.
